Eyal Carmel is a Research Director at the Pension Insurance and Financial literacy research center.
He holds a Master’s degree in Social Psychology and a Ph.D. Both from the department of Psychology at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Eyal’s dissertation studied the influence of financial literacy on financial behavior, a topic in which he published several papers in academic journals and books.
While working at the Center, Eyal was involved in several projects that support the development of financial literacy in Israel. Such works, among others, include the creation of a national financial literacy strategy for the Ministry of Social Equality, development of a financial management training for people who file for bankruptcy, and studies for the national insurance and Ministry of finance. Today Eyal works at the Israeli administration for public transportation.
In his role as the head of the Data and Evaluation unit, he combines ideas from behavior research with methods of Big Data analysis to support planning and improved the service level of public transportation in Israel.
