Benne van Popta and Onno Steenbeek share key findings from a recent study they did on Pension Reform in nine countries, including the UK, three different European countries, US and Canada as well as Chile, Australia and Israel. They will try and answer the question: What can you learn from observing pension reform in various countries.
In that unique project for NETSPAR, that attempted to distill the experience of several countries in pension reform. Israel was chosen because it ranked No. 3 on the Mercer international Index for the quality of pension systems in many countries worldwide. Our center and Professor Avia Spivak were recommended to the Dutch experts by the Mercer team when they visited Israel. The result is an impressive document, that will hopefully help the Dutch government in its pension reform. It was the government that invited this project from NETSPAR, a well-known research institution on pensions and long-term savings. The NETSPAR team found the Israeli experience quite interesting.
